The mission of Human Genome Sciences (HGS) is to apply great science and medicine to bring innovative drugs to patients with unmet medical needs. Our commitment extends to the community where we support independent activities that advance medicine, and improve professional education, patient care and disease awareness. HGS supports high quality independent education programs for healthcare providers and patients, and clinical and non-clinical investigator-sponsored research. We also provide charitable contributions to non-profit organizations working towards similar educational and research goals in the therapeutic areas on which we focus. . The information provided below and our grants website will assist you in confirming the type of funding request you wish to submit and how to apply for the grant. Our current disease areas of interest are:
Programs that support the advance of medical knowledge or support patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and other diseases with immunologic dysfunction associated with autoantibody formation will be given highest priority. Grants received in therapeutic areas in which HGS has alliance partnerships will be shared with our partner who may have different criteria for evaluation. We will also consider funding requests in other therapeutic areas that may involve our products. HGS considers requests from a broad range of organizations, and for activities that will occur within or outside the United States. Funding requests must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the start date of the program, to ensure there is adequate time for your request to be reviewed and processed. HGS carefully considers every grant application. All grant funding is conducted in accordance with the recommendations and requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) guidelines, the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, applicable laws as well as internal company policies and guidelines.
